What age should my child start lessons?
Carrie has taught violin students as young as age 4.
what is the difference between traditional LESSONS and other teaching techniques? (ex. suzuki, kodaly, etc.)
There are many approaches to teaching the violin and viola. Carrie utilizes the traditional method. This time honored approach focuses learning to read music from the beginning. This will help your child gain a solid musical foundation that will benefit them for the rest of their lives. Additionally Carrie teaches individual one-on-one lessons, not group lessons. This will allow your child to receive personalized instruction allowing them to progress at their own pace.
Will I need to buy a violin , viola or cello?
Yes, you will need to acquire an instrument. For younger children who are just starting, renting an instrument is a wise option.
Where can I rent or buy a violin, viola or cello?

What size instrument will I need for my child?
At the sample lesson Carrie can make suggestions on the right size for your child. Also a good music store will be able to measure your child and suggest the proper size.
What else will I need for the lessons?
In addition to an instrument you will need a music stand and music which Carrie will suggest at the sample lesson. A metronome will be needed after the child has progressed to a slightly higher playing level.
What if my child wants to stop after a few weeks?
All violin and viola lessons are given in 8 week semesters. You will be required to pay for 8 weeks of lessons and complete that semester.
What if I need to reschedule a lesson?
Carrie offers make up lessons detailed in her studio policy in the event that you need to reschedule a lesson.
